Sacred Heart Athletics has a long and proud history that continues to evolve and grow. This growth has most recently been accomplished by our program joining the Harrisburg CYO, which in of itself has a storied past itself dating back to the 1930s. This expansion of our schedule saw our basketball teams play many competitive schools from the Harrisburg Diocese. The capstone of this experience was our JV basketball team winning the Bishop Daily Tournament last fall.
Winning and competition are exciting experiences for our children. However, the are not the primary function or soul purpose of our presence in the CYO. Our mission is to enrich our children in an atmosphere that builds upon one's self confidence and esteem, integrity, and the sense of accomplishment of working together as a team in a Christian atmosphere.
While our basketball program is our flagship part of our athletic experience it is far from the only one. Here at Sacred Heart will have built a viable volleyball program in which our varsity girls team took first place in our parish sponsored tournament this past spring. Our JV team placed second at the St Joseph's tournament.
Sacred Heart also has an accomplished cheerleading squad which has grown tremendously over the past three seasons.
We are looking into adding a boys volleyball team as well as opening our basketball program to interested second graders.
None of these programs would exist without the hard work and dedication from our volunteers who have either dedicated long hours to coaching our children and nurturing their strengths or our parents who have given of their time to assist in varies area of the athletic department.
Our goal is to see more volunteers come forward to ensure the success and longevity of our program.
